Online Applications - ASPs

The future of application provision. If you have a product currently distributed on CD-ROM, have you considered using the web to present this to new and prospective customers?
Online applications such as Cybit's Fleetstar 2 (a comprehensive fleet/vehicle tracking system) which we developed with Cybit and Trafficmaster is a perfect example of a product that can penetrate the market completely. Since the product is available via the internet, there is no dedicated hardware required for customers to buy and maintain, everyone in the organisation (who has security of access) can make use of the product rather than a specific few who have access to internal, dedicated hardware. The product is maintained and enhanced centrally which means that distribution of updates and maintenance releases does not involve costly CD-ROM production and distribution costs and the product is centrally administered saving thousands of pounds and improving response for Support Departments.
If you would like to see Fleetstar 2 in action, please contact us for a login/password or we will happily provide a guided demonstration.
ASPs may bring you revenue not just from initial sales but from ongoing license fees making the model work very effectively. Moreover, the access to the product via the internet (with perhaps a free-trial model) rather than requests to your organisation for demo CDs, alongside the ease with which the product can be marketed online make the likely penetration of the market deeper and increase the likelihood of sales.
